transitioning to a new food

Many experts recommend transitioning to any new food gradually, starting with about 25% “new” food and slowly increasing to a full 100% over a 7-10 day period.

Try not to rush the process, especially if your dog or cat has been on their previous food for a long time.  The transition time will minimize the chance of GI upset. 

If transitioning isn't possible, try to feed smaller portions more regularly. We suggest 4 feedings daily of smaller portions over 7-10 days in this case.
